The village of Turre, where our villa is situated, is just 10 minutes from Playa Mojacar with its beaches, watersports and all the facilities of a seaside town.

We are at one end of the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park, a 30km long coastal strip stretching along the Costa Blanca from Mojacar to Almeria. It is a sub-desert mountain range which has produced some of the most wonderful beaches and coves in Spain. The park covers some 38,000 hectares of land and another 12,000 hectares of water. The climate is Mediterranean: it has an average annual temperature of about 20º C, an average sea temperature is 17.7ºC and it receives approximately 3,000 hours of sun a year. This makes it one of the hottest year-round places on the peninsular. Originally the coastal areas were inhabited by fishermen and this is still evident as you will often find small fishing crafts drawn up on the beaches. The fishing and sports harbour at San Jose is a major attraction.

The area is steeped in Andalucian tradition. As well as the historic villages of Mojacar and Turre, the historic centres of Vera, Los Gallardos and Garrucha are all close by. In Garrucha, just along from Playa Mojacar you can relax in one of the many fresh fish restaurants and watch the local fishermen as they arrive with their catch. Many amenities are to be found in Garrucha - restaurants, bars, shops and an amazing weekly market. A drive up into the mountains brings you to the typically Andalucian Mojacar Village which is full of old buildings and a beautiful church to explore. There are supermarkets and shops selling traditional food, antiques and jewellery, restaurants with typical Andalucian cooking and tapas bars, all set amongst characteristic cobbled lanes. Many other towns/villages are well worth a drive through the stunning mountain scenery.

Within a short distance you will find the new Aqua Park with its slides, water chutes and pools - a great day out for all the family. Boat/fishing trips, horse riding, a microlight flight, a visit to the Caves of Sorbas, or Mini-Hollywood (a wild-west town deep in the mountains) are just some of the trips you may wish to take.  A new go-karting track opened in 2004 just 5 minutes from the villa.

Oh, did we forget to mention golf ? ! ?
The area is well known for its excellent selection of courses:
